Original Design 04: Jacket, Flying Intermediate Type B-15
The B-15 and its variants was first introduced in the early 1940’s and continued to see action well into the 1960’s. The B-15 jacket is among those with the longest history of continued service in the USAF, a service history of almost 20 years. Click below to read more.
Kampfgruppe von Abt
Whenever I get burnt out of looking at jackets, always like to visit the Kampfgruppe von Abt website. They still haven’t updated in a while, but if you haven’t ever seen their work before, they do incredible 1/6th dioramas on an epic scale. These guys are truely in a league of their own. Original Design 03: M1951 Parka
The M1951 Parka was developed as a flexible extreme cold weather solution for US Soldiers during the Korean war. More commonly know as the “Fishtail Parka”, it has been the inspiration for many Stone Island parka designs including the white label fur trimmed version to this season antique reflective. The iconic fishtail and diagonal pocket design make M1951 both an icon of fashion and military design, even 50 years after its creation. Click below to learn more about the M1951 Parka.
1940’s US Navy Pullover Jackets
WWII Naval fashion unfortunately gets a bad wrap. The image of sailors with bib shirts and dinky hats usually comes to mind. But like the army the navy had some really interesting designs. Original Design 02: M-1943 Field Jacket
When most people think field jacket, the M-65 usually is the first that comes to mind, but the modern day field jacket like the Stone Island A349 owes its design inspiration to the WWII M-1943 field jacket. A design so successful that military forces around the world still wear field jackets remarkably similar to it. Click below for the history of the M-1943.
Original Design 01: M-41 Field Jacket
Ever wonder where the design comes from? The AW ‘05 Stone Island 4A21 gets the honor of being the first of the “Original Design” features. The 4A21 is based off the design of the WWII M-1941 field jacket, believe it or not this design is over sixty years old and was one of the most widely worn jackets by US soldiers during WWII.
