Favourite Stone Island purchases of 2008
By isola_di_pietra
Inspired by The Poultry I have compiled my favourite purchases from the year 2008, some old, some new. This is for the Stone Island purchases, I will complete another thread for CP Company purchases.
Lets get the ball rolling with this. (In no particular order.)
SS09 jacket, not yet released, aquired it from a fellow forum member who had got it from a sample sale in America!! The fabric is much like that of the snowflake jacket from SS07 only this piece features a nylon mesh on the inside of the fabric and a more hard wearing laminate bonded to the outside of the fabric. Fantastic detailing on the bellows pockets and the chest pockets too. Each cuff has a fold in flap that can be worn down the back of the hand or folded up and pop studded to make a straight cuff. Lovely articulation detail around the elbows and a perfect length.

Next up for me an embodiment of Stone Island ethos, The AW08 Modular Anatomy jacket. From concept to creation masterpiece!! Sadly not goose down filled as it would have pushed the price even higher. This is a definate future classic as its the first jacket designed by Aitor Throup who I believe wil become quite a force in the mens fashion world!!

Now for another love it or hate it piece, I love it. The Stone Island Raso R Shadow jacket AW08. Picured here with the Prismatic Silk non hooded jacket underneath. The Shadow range in collaboration with Acronym is a great idea. The detailing on the jacket is great. This just pipped the Goretex jacket to the list as it is more styled with the prismatic pockets.

AW08 Goose Down jacket. Granted it is a short jacket but it really suits the style of it, particulally in this colourway! Ultra light weight nylon and mesh badge which for me doesn’t look the best, I feel a solid badge looks much better on it but then again I am not a great fan of the mesh badges.

OK another AW08 jacket but for me there were alot I liked. AW08 Hand Painted Raso Jacket. In the dark green colourway. Sadly the jacket is Raso but the rest of the jacket style, fit and uniqueness, more than makes up for that fact.

AW07 Pewter Field Antiqued Reflective. Not the best style of the Antiqued range from AW07 but I managed to get all the others during 07 and this one illuded me until 08 so that completes the range, all pewter!!

AW92 Nylon Balaclava Jacket. Here is a lovely vintage piece that I found this year, its even my size ish, Medium. Bought this in memory of the red winter reflective jacket I sold ages ago as it is the identical style with the balaclava hood. Will never part with this on, Love it!!

AW02 Fibre Optic Light Jacket. OK I have had 3 of these over the last 6 years but finally managed to get my hands on the size Medium!!!!! Great coat, washes well (useful with it being white) warm and when you wear it in a dimly lit cinema you can hear everyone whispering!!!! Funny as!!!
On reflection this past year my collection has been streamlined. I have sold alot of the vintage pieces that don’t fit or that I am not 100% on. I can now virtually wear all my collection and there are just a few key landmark pieces that are to me too special to sell. Stay tuned for more 08 purchases from CP Company.

You have probably seen the Stone Island thread so here is my fave CP Company purchases from 2008.
First off. (Again in no particular order.)
SS08 Painted Biker Mille Miglia. Really love the original 3 pocket classic style mille’s but do feel the hood suits this shorter stlye of biker jacket. The technique is very unique too. Have never worn mine so don’t know how it will wear but don’t think it will detract from the jacket in any way.

AW07 Dynafil Mille Miglia. Sold my Metropolis this last year so this one arrived to replace its position in the wardrobe. Same fabric, better style, better fit, more wearable. Will miss the metro but again, streamlining!!

SS08 CP Company suit. This is probably one of my most special pieces of the season as it was for my wedding, here is a pic of me and my wife on the day just after the ceremony.

SS08 Mille Shield (Sunglass’ jacket). Fantastic jacket, shame about the amount of static you create when wearing with trainers but not a massive problem. Fit is perfect for me, nice trim cropped jacket, looks great with or without the hood. Bought this jacket as the 20th anniversary SS88 to SS08 = 20 years in my book!!

AW03 Shearling lined Classic 3 pocket Mille Miglia. Have had the 4 pocket moleskin shearling lined mille size 50 since 2003 and been after the 3 pocket version in a 48 ever since. Finally this year managed to aquire one, sadly it had no lining with it but for £95 I wasn’t going to argure!! The lining from my size 50 fits and to anyone looking at me wearing it you really aren’t going to notice.

There have been other purchases but don’t have pics at the moment so will take some and upload them soon.
