Really been procrastinating getting pics of this one up. Was trying to find a different look for the photos that would do justice for such an iconic piece, so settled on a vintage Osti style. Click below to see more pics.

A piece that needs no introduction, the Stone Island Ice camouflage parka, is truely and icon, but its original design comes from another icon of military design, the Jacket, Flying Very Heavy Type N3B. Sizing on this one is definitely old school sizing so wont be getting much use.

The original N3B’s were constructed of a heavy weight nylon outer shell with a wolf trimmed hood.
Origins of the N-3B Jacket, Flying Very Heavy Type
The N-3B Jacket, Flying Very Heavy Type was first introduced during the early 1950’s by the military for extreme cold weather condtions. The first N3B’s were made with a DuPont flight silk nylon outer shell and lining it was padded with a mouton until the mid 70’s when the padding was changed to polyester wadding making the jacket both lighter and warmer.
It gained the common name of “Snorkel Parka” because the hood can be zipped right up leaving only a small tunnel (or snorkel) for the wearer to look out of. This is particularly effective in very cold, windy weather although it has the added liability of seriously limiting the field of vision.
