History of the Hood, Parka M1951
The first parkas used during the Korean War, contained integral hoods, but it was difficult to wear the helmet over the thick, fur-trimmed models. The result was a separate fur-trimmed hood for the new M1951 parka combination being adopted, which allowed the soldier more flexibility in adjusting to winter combat. For example, he could wear the parka-shell’s cloth hood under his helmet with out attaching the fur-ruff hood.

The Hood, Parka M1951 was also designed to be both compatible with older field jackets being used by the US troops, such as the M1943 and M1950 field jackets, and continued to be used on the M-65 field jacket.

The Hood, Parka M1951 was composed of cotton and nylon oxford cloth in Olive Green shade 107, with wool fleece lining and fur-ruff strips.

This looks great, pity about the big “Stone Island” writing on the hood which partially ruins it imo…
