My wife picked up a 4F23 for herself, and I really like the painted fabric, just not on the mille. Finally able to track down a 4F73 for myself and am pretty pleased with the jacket. Click below for more pics.

The C.P. Company painted field jacket. Article No. 48184F73.
First Impressions:
After the disappointing purchase of the 4B33, was looking for a jacket that had the same style but addressed the design problems of the 4B33. The CP painted 4F73 was a perfect solution. The material is stiffer so the jacket holds its shape, and the oversized brim of the hood has a built in wire so you can shape the collar to a look you want. The painted fabric is really something you love or hate, however I think it works much better on this piece than on the painted mille.
One thing to note is that sizing on this piece is very big. The size 50 really fit more like a 52, being both long in length and in the arms. Construction is what you’d expect from a made in Italy piece.

Above: Wire inside brim of the hood helps the hood maintain its shape.

Left: Paint at first was an issue closing the zipper. Right: Four flap closed front pockets.

Left: Pen pocket on arm. Right: Minimal white on white logo on sleeve.

Quite like this one G, do you know if it came in any other colours?
this one came in red, but the red seem a bit to shiney for my taste.

where did you get this gene? I really like the painted white mille, but this was a stand out piece.
really nice G!
Really nice Pick up Gene. Wasn’t keen on the painted Milles but it looks good on the FJ.
Nice but I’m not convinced with the longevity of the paint and the wired hood is a bit too 70’s ’snorkel’ jacket for me.
