After seeing the picture of the white Mille Shield on the SI uk site, been looking for a white jacket that wouldn’t be to short, and that I could continue to wear come spring. The Stone Island AW’06 white hooded ventile fit the bill perfectly. Click below to see full review.

First Impressions
I have always been fan of the ventile fabric, but I think it was more for the embroided ventile label than the actual jackets. The AW 06 hooded ventile is a whole different story. First off, the actual shape of the jacket is better suited to the ventile material. One of the main issues I’ve had with the previous ventile jackets is the shape of the shoulder and the cuffs. The raglan shoulder of the 4130 fixes the previous issue with the shoulders looking too stiff and the velcro strap give the cuffs a more interesting shape than just using a snap to close it.
The surprising thing about this piece is the sizing. It fits larger than usual. The medium I purchased has a P2P of 23″,sizing you’d find on a big large or extra large, and I think I could have even gone down to a small on this one. So sizing down on this one is a good bet especially if you like to wear your winter pieces with no lining in the spring and fall.

Not much to say about the ventile fabric. One of my favorite waterproof fabrics SI is using. Unfortunately this pieces is a MI(C)hina, but like the SS07 ventiles, the quality is fine and there really isn’t anything to fault with the construction.

The hood on this piece is probably the best feature, its HUUUGE! The designed I suppose was taken from a flight jacket where the pilot need to fit a helmet under the hood. The mesh lining with elastic helps make the hood fit when you’re not wearing a helmet.

The snap crotch strap which can be worn to prevent the jacket from rising up, is feature that I can’t foresee myself using in the near future, but none the less a cool feature to have. The front pockets have both a button flap and vertical zip openings. The buttons on the chest pocket flap is really the only detail I didn’t like on this piece. The plastic of the button was a bit cheap and looks like a button you’d find on a Stone Island Denims piece.

The inner lining is a cotton terry cloth material. It’s a nice change from the usual felt and quilted linings Stone Island has been using lately. One thing to note is that the ductch rope system doesn’t follow the usual hole placement so mix and matching with your other liners isn’t possible with this one.

A VERY nice jacket indeed. Were any more MUTED colours produced?
For sure there was a white and black version. But I’m pretty sure there is a grey version, like the SS07 ventiles, floating about.
Oooh, i’d have to buy the GREY VERSION, mmmm
Bought the Black when it came out, and the jacket is perfect for Norwegian weather, keeps you warm and dry! As you pointed out, the hood is great!
